teach me? the eyes are amazing, they give it life and emotion. i lik ehow you manage too make drawing hman, instead of just a rough sketch. if i upload some more draqwings, will you give me some pointers? if i wont pay attention in art... il pay attention to you lol.

haha ... yeah im always here for help - this one is my grandfather so i get used to seeing him ... makes the whole process much easier and to catch some essence that might fail in working on a stranger

hmmm yea i did a sketch of kurt cobain, i uploaded it, but the photo graph is a bit blury , but im kinda proud of it, if you get a second you could have a look? though i wont hold my breath lol your cleary busy XD

i find it easier to work on a stranger, or myself, i think self portraits are more of a challange, because you start to see things about yourself that you hadnt seen and there fore you sometimes dont want to draw it lol. your self portrait is realy realy nice, its well shaded ^^

I also did one of Kurt many moons ago ... i dont have it uploaded anywhere though - its amazing the following he gets still to this day - im sure he will be right up there with Jim Morrison forever - i was fortunate to see Nirvana in concert back in 1993 I think? - I had to be only 14 or 15 at the time - still got some snapshots of all of them on stage and the ticket stub from that show in a box somewhere

I like doing the self portraits cuz your always there to model for yourself ... a good reflection - i got on a tare and did a few here lately but i dont like having my picture taken much !

kurt is amazing! lol, yea it gets irratating though when you are an actual fan, who realy does listen to the music, and then sum dim wit makes a coment about how he blew his brains out (or jaw....) and it belitles the fact that your just enjoying the music lol. wow, thats realy kewl!! i was only a bratty snot nosed tott when he died, and didnt start appriciating him until i started to become a bratty snot nosed teen at 13 lol. so i kind of missed it i guess.

yea, i wud rather have a drawing, but i get a litle self concious about my drawings..... hense only haveing one.... lol. but im gunna try and get brave enough to upload more..

wow, those eyes are amazing. When I do portraits of people in my life drawing class, I can't see the details of the eyes, this really shows me what I'm missing. I also really enjoy the lines on the collar of the t-shirt.

thanks ... i had the same problem myself - im sure it would have been better if I didnt have to sit behind 2 or 3 rows of other students ! - one on one or in a very small group, you can really get as close as needed in a life drawing setting - and though i use photo refs that help slow the immediacy of the final product, i still take what i know about him and his expressions to the image - its the addictive side of my nature towards drawing ...*

Once again, you have delivered a captivating look and a personalized aesthetic at once. It has nice depth and more than sufficient detail to effectively balance the subject in the composition. The apparent off-centeredness of placement within the framework seems to accentuate his discerning left eye, which anchors the focus of the portrait.

The tones are delicately soft and translucent, giving a special and enduring appearance to an excellent portrayal of your grandfather.

thanks D ... it was a rather spontanious portrait that I decided on one day - he never likes to have his picture taken so i kept the shoot under 2 minutes - just getting enough refs to work with and to crop down - i also wanted to bring into focus that left eye but was concerned it would appear smaller in comparison to the other when i saw the shots - then i realized i have the same issues when doing a self portrait - kind of got to see my own eyes looking back at me in the process of creating this, so that was interesting - he hasnt seen it yet and has probably forgot all about it ... am planning on getting a frame on it and hanging it in the bar for him and his cronies to see when he gos in first thing in the morning *
